Extended Care Program

Philosophy

The basic Catholic Christian philosophy that permeates the total St. Monica School Program continues to operate in the Extended Care program. This philosophy emphasizes the dignity and respect for all persons, for all of creation, and for the moral, social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child.

In addition to this overall philosophy, the Administration and Staff of the Extended Care Program will:

  1. Provide a caring and safe environment during after school hours for children who are enrolled in the Extended Care Program
  2. Provide activities that are enriching, structured, and promote a sense of responsible free choice
  3. Guide students to develop and improve their social skills by providing opportunities for:
    1. using one’s own initiative
    2. practicing independence and self-direction
    3. associating constructively with peers
    4. observing supportive and challenging role models
    5. developing a sense of competence and a healthy self-image

General Policies

  1. Extended Care Hours are from 3:00pm until 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. On early dismissal days, Extended Care is available from dismissal until 6:00 p.m.
  2. Extended care will not be available on the first or last day of school.
  3. Before children are released each day, they must be signed out with Extended care personnel by a parent or authorized adult. This policy is designed to protect the children, and therefore, no exceptions will be made.
  4. If an emergency occurs, and you wish your child to attend Extended Care, please call the school office and send a note indicating that the child will be present that day for the Extended Care session.
  5. Please make sure that the information on your child(ren)’s Emergency Card is current, so that in the event of an emergency the Extended Care personnel are able to contact you.
  6. Please note: There is a $10.00 charge for every 10 minutes after 6:00 p.m. pick up.
